March Ipsy Bag Review

Ipsy Bag Review

So I recently signed up to receive the monthly Ipsy makeup bag. My first bag was more than what I expected. I’ve never really been “that girl” with the large makeup bags, up to date on the latest beauty products, nails done, hair done, everything did. I was a tomboy who always dressed in T-shirts, jeans, and sneakers. I would play manhunt and run around outside rather than read heartthrob magazines, hang posters on my walls, and have slumber parties with the girls.

Of course as I’ve gotten older (much older LoL) I’ve slowly started to succumb to the desire to play with makeup! Not that I’ve never worn any makeup. I’m lipstick and out the door kinda girl. Of course, if it’s a special occasion I’ll get dolled up no doubt about it. Unfortunately, I’d have to borrow certain products from friends because I never thought to invest in beauty. Somehow I’ve always seen it as a waste of money.

So here I was just browsing the internet for memes and sipping on my hazelnut coffee. I came across a post on Facebook to sign up for a monthly Ipsy bag with 5 products for $10. I figure it’s about time to invest in some stuff and things for my now aging self. Who else is gonna spoil me right? *wink wink*

Now the waiting game! First you’re put on a waiting list. I imagined I’d have to wait months before I was able to get my first bag. But in less than two weeks I received an email and no more wait list! My bag was being sent out on March 5th and I couldn’t wait!

I wait anxiously until the day finally arrives. I’m constantly looking out the window like a dog waiting for his owner to come back!! Then I hear the most beautiful sounds ever heard outside of my front door: THE MAILMAN!

I ran to the door like a runner in the Olympics. I ripped that fuchsia colored bag open faster than a kid on Christmas.

I immediately fell in love with the bag itself. Now I’m a royal purple lover myself, but this soft pink bag was beautiful. I especially loved the textured pattern on the front.

So here’s what came in my awesome Ipsy bag:

  • Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer
  • Neogen Coconut Milk Pure Mild Cleanser
  • INT Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Goddess Gold
  • tarte cosmetics tarteist quick dry matte lip paint
  • Skone Cosmetics Luxe Pro Blending Brush
  • FREE Ipsy makeup bag  (Duh!)

Now comes the breakdown. I looked up each product individually to see their prices if bought separately and if the samples I’m receiving are worth the value. Here’s what I found:

The Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer will run you about $11.99 for a 6oz bottle. I received a 2oz sample which is about $4. That’s nearly half of what I paid for the whole package and that’s just one product!

The Neogen Coconut Milk Pure Mild Cleanser comes out to $19.00 for a 75ml bottle. The sample I received is 25ml and that is approximately $6.50 worth. These 2 products alone paid for the other 3 plus the bag. Let’s keep going shall we??

The INT Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Goddess Gold doesn’t provide the amount that came in the sample. I also checked the website and this product will run you about $4 in the original size. Even if it’s 50 cents worth, it’s practically free considering the previous two already paid for the rest.

The tarte cosmetics tarteist quick dry matte lip paint is one of my favorite thus far. The 6ml lip paint is $20. The sample sent is 1 ml so that’s about $3.33.

The Skone Cosmetics Luxe Pro Blending Brush is absolutely worth the monthly stipend alone! I never knew makeup brushes could be so expensive!! This brush bough on the manufacturer website is $15!! How great is that???

The IPSY Bag itself is most likely about $10 so if you think about it that way you’re practically getting to play with makeup for free! I like free!!

The total for the samples received is $42.83 of amazing beauty supplies; and only for $10!

If you want to purchase them separately and in their original size, it would run you about $80!

Now you might not like all the products. The great thing is that Ipsy sends you an email to rate each product separately. Ipsy takes this information and uses it to create your next month’s bag. So if you like the brush (which you should because they are already sending me another one next month) then you will get a brush. If you give a high rating to the lip stain, you’ll receive a similar product and so on.

In my  opinion, the products are great. I’ve been putting them to work and I’m extremely excited about my new Ipsy bag for April. Once I’ve used and abused the products, I will fill you in!

Now Let’s Get Beautiful Together! Go to Ipsy right now and start receiving some of the best beauty products that are out there. What better way to treat yourself every month for only $10!
